Gilead Sciences Healthy Donor Program

Length: 10-20 minutes
The main purpose of this research study is to collect fresh blood samples from healthy employee volunteers to be used in various research studies across Gilead Sciences. Your samples will help researchers advance science and may be used for efforts such as, but not limited to, blood biomarker analysis, genotyping, and the development of new treatment options for patients. All blood draws will be performed on-site at Gilead Sciences.
You can participate if you:
- Are 18 years of age or older
- Are in general good health
- Are a current, full-time employee at Gilead Foster City, CA location
You cannot participate if you:
- Are diagnosed with uncontrolled medical conditions or significant health issues defined as either of the following (1) a medical complication resulting in a hospitalization or urgent care visit within the last 6 months or (2) change(s) in prescribed medications or treatments within the last 3 months
- Have a history of liver disease
- Have a history of unusual bleeding or bruising
- Have received an investigational product within 30 days prior to the blood draw
- Experienced excess blood loss including blood donation (defined as exceeding 250 mL in the last month or 500 mL in the last two months)
- Have experienced acute illness (i.e. flu) within 30 days of blood draw
- Have a history of fainting or other adverse events when donating blood
- Have current viral or bacterial infections
- Have a known history of HIV, hepatitis or tuberculosis virus
- Are pregnant
- Have EU Citizenship
How the Donation Process Works
Screening
Once you have signed up to participate in the Gilead Sciences Onsite Healthy Donor Program, one of our research coordinators will reach out to conduct an over-the-phone screening that takes about 10-15 minutes.
During the screen, you will be asked questions about your health and demographic information.
Informed Consent and Documentation
Once you are deemed eligible to participate in a study, you will be emailed an Informed Consent Form (ICF).
Informed Consent is the most important aspect of any research study as it outlines and confirms research participants' rights. The ICF may be signed electronically.
Appointment
After all proper documentation is on file, we will schedule your blood collection appointment with one of our trained, licensed phlebotomists.
On the day of your appointment, please make sure to be hydrated and follow all instructions provided by your research coordinator.
Compensation
At the end of your appointment, you will receive a $50 prepaid gift card for your contribution.
