Human CD4+ T Cells for Research

Source human CD4+ T cells and CD4 T cell samples for immunology, cell therapy, and T cell biology research. Healthy and disease-state donor options are available.

Human CD4+ T cells are purified from peripheral blood of IRB-consented donors under IRB-approved protocols. As the helper arm of the adaptive immune system, CD4+ T cells recognise antigen presented on MHC class II and coordinate the response of B cells, cytotoxic T cells, and macrophages through cytokine signalling. That central regulatory role makes them the workhorse population for autoimmune research, vaccine and adjuvant studies, immune-modulator screening, and cell therapy development. Available cryopreserved, these CD4+ T cells deliver high viability and consistent performance for in vitro and in vivo studies.

Buy CD4+ T cells from healthy and disease-state donors.

CD4+ T Cell Subsets and Phenotyping

Because helper T cells are functionally heterogeneous, most studies need a defined subset rather than bulk CD4+ cells. Subset enrichment and phenotyping data are available on request:

  • Naive (CD45RA+ CCR7+) and memory (CD45RO+) compartments
  • Central memory and effector memory populations
  • Regulatory T cells (Treg, CD4+ CD25+ CD127low FoxP3+)
  • Th1, Th2, and Th17 polarisation-competent starting material
  • HLA-typed donors for antigen-specific and MHC class II–restricted work

Isolation and Purity

CD4+ T cells are isolated from fresh peripheral blood or apheresis material by immunomagnetic selection, then cryopreserved to preserve function. Negative selection is used where an untouched, label-free population is required for downstream functional assays.

  • High-purity isolated CD4+ T cells with ≥90% CD4+ viability
  • Flow cytometry purity and viability data supplied per lot
  • Cryopreserved in CryoStor® CS10 media
  • Processed within 24 hours of collection

Product Features

  • Human CD4+ T cells for Research Use Only (RUO)
  • CD4 positive T cells
  • Isolated human CD4+ T cell samples from healthy, clinically screened donors
  • Disease-state donor cohorts available to specification
  • Custom aliquot sizes and repeat draws from the same donor where available
  • IRB-approved protocols with electronic informed consent

Donor Metadata

  • Comprehensive donor screening and verified health status
  • Demographic data: age, sex assigned at birth, race/ethnicity
  • Self-reported medication, allergy, and infectious disease history
  • HLA type and CMV serostatus available on request

Applications

  • T helper cell activation and cytokine secretion assays
  • Th1, Th2, Th17, and Treg differentiation studies
  • Treg suppression assays and immune tolerance research
  • CAR-T and TCR engineering, including immune interaction modeling
  • Autoimmune and inflammatory disease research
  • HIV and infectious disease studies
  • Single-cell sequencing and transcriptomic profiling

Disease-State CD4+ T Cells

CD4+ T cells are available from donors with physician-confirmed diagnoses, which is essential when the helper compartment itself is the disease mechanism. Current options include systemic lupus erythematosus CD4+ T cells and scleroderma CD4+ T cells, alongside healthy donor CD4+ T cells as matched controls. Other indications can be sourced as a custom collection.

Related Cell Types

If you need a different fraction of the same donor material, see our human CD8+ T cells, human CD3+ T cells (pan-T), or the unseparated human PBMCs they are derived from. For large-scale isolation, a human leukopak yields substantially more cells per donor.

Compliance and Quality Assurance

  • IRB-approved collections and standardized procedures
  • 21 CFR Part 11–compliant e-consent system
  • HIPAA-compliant data management

Frequently Asked Questions

What purity can I expect? Isolated CD4+ T cells are supplied at ≥90% purity and viability, with per-lot flow cytometry data.

Can I get Tregs specifically? Yes — CD4+ CD25+ CD127low regulatory T cells can be enriched on request, and FoxP3 confirmation is available.

Are matched CD8+ or PBMC fractions available from the same donor? Yes. Matched fractions from a single collection can be provided where the draw volume allows, which is the cleanest design for comparative work.

Do you supply fresh rather than cryopreserved CD4+ T cells? Fresh isolation is possible for customers within logistics range; contact us to confirm timing against your assay schedule.

Are samples IRB approved?

1 Answer

YES – All collections are conducted under IRB-approved protocols and electronic informed consent. Sanguine utilizes Advarra and WCG IRB for oversight.

YES – all our products are research use only (RUO).

Storage depends on sample type but often cryopreserved samples stored in liquid nitrogen can be stored for years.

Extensive customization is available. To discuss your project request a quote or email us at learnmore@sanguinebio.com.

Sanguine offers flexible prospective collection services tailored to fit your research. For more information and to request a quote, please see: our prospective biospecimen collection services page.

Timelines depend on condition, sample type, and I/E criteria but we often start collection within 2 weeks of signed agreement.

YES – we have in-stock inventory. You can also email us at learnmore@sanguinebio.com as we continually get new samples in our inventory.

Each sample from a different individual – Unique donor means each sample comes from a different person, ensuring biological diversity in your study.

YES – Unique donors can be specified and guaranteed based on your requirements.

For information about sample quality, please see: Quality and Compliance

YES – “IRB-approved collection protocols” and IRB approval documentation available upon request. Sanguine utilizes two internationally-recognized IRBs (Advarra and WCG IRB) for review and approval.
