Rheumatoid Arthritis Bulk Plasma for Autoimmune Assay Development and Biomarker Research
Rheumatoid Arthritis Bulk Plasma is collected from IRB-consented donors diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis (RA) using apheresis, with ACDA (Acid-Citrate-Dextrose Formula A) as the anticoagulant. High-volume, single-donor collections are tested and confirmed negative for HIV, HBV, and HCV, and are available fresh with custom volumes on request. Research Use Only (RUO).
Disease Serology and Why Bulk Plasma
- Rheumatoid arthritis is a systemic autoimmune disease centred on inflammation of the synovial membrane, with synovial hyperplasia, pannus formation, and progressive cartilage and bone erosion.
- Two autoantibody systems define the serology: rheumatoid factor, directed against the Fc region of IgG, and anti-citrullinated protein antibodies, commonly measured as anti-CCP. ACPA are highly specific for RA and can be detectable years before symptom onset.
- Seropositive and seronegative RA behave as partly distinct entities, and the strongest genetic association, the HLA-DRB1 shared epitope, is largely confined to ACPA-positive disease.
- TNF and IL-6 are validated therapeutic targets in RA, and acute-phase reactants such as C-reactive protein track systemic inflammatory activity, so plasma carries directly interpretable disease-relevant analytes.
- High-volume single-donor plasma is what makes autoantibody-rich material practical to use at scale: as a positive control and reference matrix for RF and anti-CCP assay development, for antibody enrichment and purification, and for large multiplex or proteomic panels that would exhaust a standard draw.
- Plasma is acellular. This product is for soluble analyte, autoantibody, and proteomic work, not for flow cytometry or any cell-based assay.
