Systemic Lupus Erythematosus Human PBMC products are sourced from donors clinically diagnosed with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) and processed under stringent conditions to support research. These cryopreserved peripheral blood mononuclear cells enable studies on immune dysregulation, cytokine response, and therapeutic development for SLE. Why Donor PBMCs Matter in Lupus

SLE is a systemic autoimmune disease characterised by loss of tolerance to nuclear antigens, immune-complex deposition, and a pronounced type I interferon signature. That signature is measurable directly in circulating mononuclear cells, which is why patient PBMCs — rather than healthy cells stimulated in vitro — remain the reference material for interferon-driven research.

The compartment is broadly disturbed rather than confined to one cell type: expanded plasmablasts and autoreactive B cells, altered T follicular helper populations, impaired regulatory T cell function, low-density granulocytes primed for NET release, and monocytes skewed toward interferon-stimulated gene expression. Because SLE is also markedly heterogeneous and relapsing, disease activity and treatment status at the time of draw materially change what the cells show.
