About Type 2 Diabetes CD3+ T Cells
Type 2 Diabetes CD3+ T Cells for Immunometabolism Research
Type 2 Diabetes CD3+ T Cells are isolated from peripheral blood of IRB-consented adult donors diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes. These CD3+ T lymphocytes reflect the chronic inflammatory state accompanying insulin resistance and are valuable for investigating T cell phenotypes, cytokine secretion, and immune-metabolic cross-talk.
T Cells in Type 2 Diabetes
Type 2 diabetes is a metabolic disease of insulin resistance and progressive beta-cell dysfunction — mechanistically distinct from the autoimmune beta-cell destruction of type 1 diabetes. But T cells are far from bystanders in it. The chronic low-grade inflammation of obesity and insulin resistance, generally termed meta-inflammation, is substantially T cell–driven:
- Th1 and Th17 skewing with a corresponding reduction in regulatory T cell frequency and function
- Adipose tissue T cell infiltration — CD8+ recruitment precedes and helps drive macrophage accumulation in expanding adipose tissue
- Pro-inflammatory cytokine output — IFN-γ, TNF-α, and IL-17, which directly interfere with insulin signalling
- Altered T cell metabolism, reflecting the hyperglycaemic and dyslipidaemic environment
- Premature immunosenescence — accelerated T cell ageing phenotypes reported in long-standing disease
Because these features track with metabolic parameters, donor metabolic annotation matters more here than autoantibody status.
Donor Stratification Available
- Glycaemic control — HbA1c and fasting glucose where tested
- BMI and obesity status, given the tight coupling to meta-inflammation
- Disease duration — newly diagnosed vs long-standing
- Treatment status — diet-controlled, metformin, GLP-1 receptor agonist, SGLT2 inhibitor, or insulin
- Complications — nephropathy, retinopathy, neuropathy where documented
- Matched controls — non-diabetic, and BMI-matched where obesity must be separated from diabetes

CD3+ T Cells
Where can I find your complete catalog?
You can find our full product catalog here.
How long can samples be stored?
Storage depends on sample type but often cryopreserved samples stored in liquid nitrogen can be stored for years.
What customization options are available?
Extensive customization is available. To discuss your project request a quote or email us at learnmore@sanguinebio.com.
Do you offer prospective collections?
Sanguine offers flexible prospective collection services tailored to fit your research. For more information and to request a quote, please see: our prospective biospecimen collection services page.
What is the turnaround time for custom collections?
Timelines depend on condition, sample type, and I/E criteria but we often start collection within 2 weeks of signed agreement.
Do you have samples in stock?
YES - we have in-stock inventory. You can also email us at learnmore@sanguinebio.com as we continually get new samples in our inventory.
What does unique donor mean?
Each sample from a different individual - Unique donor means each sample comes from a different person, ensuring biological diversity in your study.
Are samples collected under IRB-approved protocols?
YES - "IRB-approved collection protocols" and IRB approval documentation available upon request. Sanguine utilizes two internationally-recognized IRBs (Advarra and WCG IRB) for review and approval.
